Things Are Shaping Up For Spring Break!

If you're coming down to the panhandle for Spring Break, you'll be happy to know that the fishing is really picking up!  We had a ton of rain a couple of weeks ago, and Choctawhatchee Bay is still a little muddy from rain water pouring out of the Choctawhatchee River.  Choctawhatchee should be clearing up soon (barring any more week-long downpours!)  However, St. Andrew's Bay is in great shape, and the fishing is excellent right now for redfish on the flats.  I've been seeing plnty of tailing fish, and aggressive feeding.  Any fly that imitates shrimp or crabs should get your fly rod bent.  Gold or pearl colored flukes or other soft plastics similarly colored have been getting it done for the light tackle guys.  I've also been getting reports of blitzing bonito outside of the Destin Pass too.  In a few weeks when the water warms up a little, there will be plenty of big jack crevalle and cobia cruising down the beach.  Both Capt. Stephen Dailey and Capt. Clint Hood are geared up for cobia season, and they well be happy to get you hooked up to some big cobia!  Also, night fishing should take off big time with a little warm weather.  The end of March through May is the time of year when we catch some monster sized speckled trout.  So, we have lots to look forward to!  Give us a call if you're coming down for Spring Break and we'll be happy to take you out on a fun Spring fishing trip!

Hot Fishing During the Holidays!

Fishing on the flats over the past few weeks has been great!  Lots of redfish are tailing up and willing to eat spoon flies, shrimp patterns, as well as soft plastic baits.  There have been some big schools of bull redfish busting bait on top under diving birds.  If you see birds working, it is definitely worth running out to see what they're so excited about.  On calm days out in the Gulf, large schools of false albacore are working as well.  The water temps are higher than average right now, and that seems to be keeping the fish pretty frisky right now.  If you're coming down to the beach for the holidays, it will definitely be a great time to book a trip!  Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Hope to see you out on the water in the next couple weeks!
