The Best Time of the Year to Fish the Flats is Right NOW!!

Now is the best time of the year to fish for tailing redfish on the flats. The fishing over the past few weeks has been incredible! Redfish tails everywhere! During October, November, and December is the very best time to hook up in skinny water with a big red on fly. Lots of fun productive trips recently. The bonito blitz is on as well out in the Gulf. Bonito are blast to catch, and will take you into your backing before you can count to 2! Take advantage of the very best time of the year to fish the flats!

Night Fishing, Tarpon, and Bonito!

Happy 4th of July everybody!  We've been running some great trips lately!  The best most consistent fishing is at night under the dock lights for specks and reds.  We've been catching some huge trout and upper slot size redfish.  It's quite a sight to see these big boys chasing shrimp and even other small trout!  The first hour of daylight on the flats has been pretty good.  After that, the fish take a siesta for the rest of the day.  Water temps are hitting 90 in the very skinny water.  I've been out fishing on my own for tarpon.  There's somehuge pouring through right now!  After a few successful trips on my own (and seeing the numbers of fish that should be here by now), Starting this week, I'll be running charters for the Silver King.  If you've got a little saltwater fly fishing experience, this will definitely be your chance to catch a fish of a lifetime!!  Also, there's a ton of bonito outside of the Destin pass.  These are a blast to catch on fly!  They'll take you into your backing in less than 3 seconds!  Capt. Clint Hood has been running trips offshore.  He's been slaying some red snapper, triggerfish, and kingfish.  If you're wanting some fresh fish to take home, he's the guy to go with.  To sum it up, night fishing, tarpon, and bonito are what's happening right now on the panhandle if you're looking to do some fly fishing!
