Spring is in full swing!

The fishing is just getting better and better everyday!  Across the board, fly and light tackle fishing is fantastic!  The reds are crashing bait on the flats.  We've been fooling them with any fly that looks like a shrimp, and throwing soft plastics has resulted in some explosive strikes.  The most marked improvement has been at night.  We've been catching too many trout and redfish to count on the dock lights!  Some so big that it's been pretty much an act of futility to keep them away from the dock pilings or straightening the hook.   Even though they got away, it's been a blast catching their "little" brothers!  I'm dead set on landing a 30" trout this year.  Keep checking the website to see if one of my clients catches a fish of a lifetime in the upcoming weeks.  I've got a good feeling!  While I've been fishing in the bay, I've been sending clients who want to go cobia fishing or offshore with Capt. Clint Hood of Gulf Coast Inshore Charters (www.gulfcoastinshore.com).  They've been catching some huge cobia, jacks, and other cool stuff right off the beach.  If you're coming down here or already down here,  give me a call.  The fishing is awesome!!

Warmer Weather! = Happy Fish! = Really Happy Fishermen!!

It's been a cold cold winter!  Just 5 weeks ago the water temperture was 45 degrees.  The warm sunny weather over the past seven days has brought water temps up to 60-65 degrees! The fish have changed their demeanor from lethargic to "Hungry as Hell".  We've been seeing the usual mid-winter redfish behavior of giant schools pushing around the flats.  This week, the big schools are still there, but we're also seeing lots of tails and feeding activity.  Big trout have also moved out of the deep holes in the creeks, and are cruising in shallow water hunting for mullet.  Lots of other smaller baitfish have begun to appear on the flats this week as well.  Everything is set for huge spring time feast for the reds and specks!  If you're coming down to Destin, Santa Rosa Beach, or Panama City for Spring Break, give me a call to book a trip that will cure your Spring Fever!  Also, for all you fly tiers, I have uploaded a bunch of videos on how to tie some of my favorite saltwater flies (for redfish, trout, bonito, jacks, tarpon, and more) on my YouTube Channel.  Check them out- http://www.youtube.com/user/DestinyUnboundAnglin  Can't wait to see you all down here!  i can tell already this Spring fishing season is going to be a blast!!
