Spring Break Fishing!

Glad to be back in Florida after 4 months fishing the marsh in Louisiana.  We had a great time pulling on bull reds!  Now, with spring almost upon us, we can look forward to some fantastic beach, flats, and night fishing for big pre-spawn trout.  Water temps are up in the upper 60's.  It won't be long before jacks, reds, and cobia start to push down the beach. When the surf lays down, this can be some amazing fishing with a fly rod or regular gear.  The usual slot sized redfish can be found on the flats as well. Finally, one of my favorite types of fishing is about to get really good.  Night fishing for big trout and redfish. As the water heats up, the glass minnows and threadfin shad will start swarming under dock lights, providing a feast for trout and redfish.  Night fishing is by far the most productive fishing that I do all year with a fly rod and can be really good with spinning rods as well.  Give me a call and book your spring break fly fishing or light tackle trip!

Spring is here! Big changes on the water!

We had a fantastic time fishing in Louisiana during January and February.  The fishing was absolutely amazing when the sun was out!  We caught some really big redfish including the 29 pounder Torben dam caught (pictured above).  We are happy to be back in Florida.  The weather is getting much warmer and water temps are shooting up to over 70 degrees in some places.  This means night fishing for redfish and big prespawn trout is about to bust wide open.  Night trips are a blast with a fly rod or spinning.  Looking forward to seeing those big dogs busting bait under the lights!  Now that Spring is here beach fishing will take off as well.  Look forward to big school of jacks, some cobia, and bull reds all swimming down the beach for the next 8 weeks.  Tarpon fishing comes right after that!  The flats are coming alive as well.  Warmer water is bringing lots of bait into the bay and the reds are hunting in skinny water.  If you're coming to the panhandle for Spring Break, don't miss out on some great fishing.  Give us a call!!
