Colder weather....No problem!!!

We're having our first true winter time temperatures this week.  However, the redfish don't seem to mind and are feeding like crazy to fatten up for the winter.  We've been catching lots of tailing redfish on fly and light tackle in super skinny water.  Yesterday, I took Chris Evey and Kevin Miller fishing and even with a hard 20+ mph north wind, the reds still kept their tales in the air!  I expect this feeding binge to continue through the holidays.  Those of you who are coming down to the panhandle for Christmas and New Years should definitely book a trip, and get in on some of the great fishing on the flats!  After New Years the redfish will begin to school up in wads of over a hundred fish!  Fishing to these large schools can be tricky.  Spook one and you've spooked a hundred more.  However, right now the fish are letting us get very close and offering great high percentage shots.   Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!  If you're looking for a great present to give to someone, a day of fly fishing the grass flats would fill any angler with an abundance of joy and excitement!   See you soon!  The fish are ready for you to come down!!

Fall is here and the redfish and bonito are going nuts!!

Fall is here!  That means the redfish are all over the flats!  Tailing activity is great in the morning.  Lots of opportunities to catch reds on fly and light tackle!  The Gulf in recent weeks has been super flat and there have been acres and acres of blitzing bonito on top!  These fish are a blast to catch on fly or spinning rods.  It's hard to believe a 3-6lb fish can fight so hard!  Check out some video that we took  about a week and a half ago- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4uwScrdMYg&feature=youtube_gdata_player.  Be sure to turn the sound up to hear Andy Coleman's great color commentary!  Late October and November is THE best time to catch tailing reds on the flats!  The bonito fishing should remain good for a few more weeks too!  Come on down for some of the year's best fishing!!
